Happython-2019 Competition Rules


“Happython-2019” BY AAIWay Inc. (hereinafter referred to as the "Event") is organized and conducted by its organizing committee/programming club/tech fest organizing committee of AAIWay, Inc. (“AAIWay”). The Event will be hosted on the terms and conditions as stated hereunder (“Terms and Conditions” or “T&C”) and Privacy Policy of AAIWay. The below T&C are applicable to all the candidates who intend to participate in the Event:

 Summary of the Event


AAIWay is hosting this virtual event, Happython-2019, which will be held from January 26, 2019 to March 10, 2019. 

This Competition is a contest of skillful execution of an idea that helps spread happiness in society in six key topics (“Topics”) that have been found to support well-being of the society to increase happiness: income, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust and generosity. 

The competition will be conducted in 2 rounds:

  • Round 1 - Jan 26-February 28, 2019  Date of submission of the project is February 20, 2019. AAIWay selection committee will select the 30 teams for presentations. Each selected  Team will have 30 minutes slot  to go through a demo of their solution and business case between February 21 and 24 to AAIWay selection committee.   The challenge consists on the solving of problems related to Happiness; specifically those being able to: i) Offer new and better experiences across human life-cycle ; ii) Create new products to enhance happiness; iii) Better collaboration within the society; and iv) Tap into the sharing and on-demand economy in new ways to prosperity.  The judges will short list 15 teams from Round 1 to move to the next round.                      
  • Round 2 - (Mentoring round):   The Mentoring Stage will run from March 1 to March 10, 2019. Participants will prepare a submission and demo for the Judges by March 10. Presentation of the solutions to the Judges will be online. Top 5 teams will be announced on March 15, 2019. 

Happython-2019 Awards 


  • AAIWay will award following prizes to the winners of the competition:
  • First prize: Winner team gets a total of $1000 dollars out of which $500 will be given as cash and $500 will be given to the charity that the team will announce and support at the beginning of the competition.
  • Second prize: Winner team gets a total of $500 dollars out of which $250 will be given as cash and $250 will be given to the charity that the team will announce and support at the beginning of the competition. 
  • AAIWay mentors will award digital badges to the top 10 participants for solving challenges based on; Problem solving, Language proficiency, Teamwork.
  • AAIWAy will offer free guidance to the top 3 teams of the competition, to pitch their idea and get funding from the US investors.

 The rules:


  1. The Event endeavors to give a unique opportunity to individuals to participate (‘Participants’) in a team of maximum 3 members (“Teams”) to compete to win prizes (“Competition”).
  2. Participation in the Event is free of charge and that participation does not entail any right to compensation of any kind or to reimbursement of any expenses incurred.
  3. Participants in round one can enter after January 26 at the discretion of AAIWay, however they will have to submit their final project for evaluation, on or before February 20.
  4. A panel of judges consisting of subject matter experts selected by AAIWay (“Judges”) will judge the entries and select the winners.
  5. Participant Teams have to demonstrate the abilities, and present solutions that will be judged by the Judges, whose decision is final.
  6. For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions:
     i. Competition and Event may sometimes collectively be referred to herein as the “Event”
     ii. For the purpose of the Event, AAIWay (and/or its designees) shall be referred to as Event  Management.

      Who can participate? 

 The Competition is open to Participants who have been selected by the Event Management to attend, including AAIWay and AAIWay affiliates employees. Participants must be above 13 years of age. A Participant cannot apply or participate on behalf of another individual / person. 


In order to participate:

  1.  Participant will be provided  a folder (75 MB space) on cloud by AAIWay to keep the draft and final outputs of their submission (presentation, docs, code);
  2. Participants must form Teams of up to 3 individuals. The Participant Team is considered complete only when all the Participants of the team have filled in all details of the Web Page form. Each Participant Team must be given a name as chosen by its members. Participant Team names must not be connected in any way with the names of companies or registered trademarks or use expressions that incite violence or are discriminatory, obscene, or represent any form of defamation. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. Participant Teams may not be changed once the competition has begun and should even just one member of a team leave the competition, the entire team will be rendered ineligible.
  3. Participant must submit a scanned copy of a driving license or other photo ID as a proof of identity and eligibility. By participating in the Event, it is implied that Participants have accepted these Terms and Conditions stated herein, as well as on the terms of service at http://www.aaiway.com

      The Event structure

  1.  Participant Teams will be required to work on real business challenges, of their own choosing (so long as they address one of the Topics in a challenging and creative way, as determined by the judges). Participant Teams will need to adhere to the time frame decided by the Event Management. The Teams have to finalize their solution and present it to the Event Management within the stipulated time frame. 
  2.  Participants will have from January 26 up to February 20 to create their solution and submit their solutions. The evaluation stage will run from February 21 to February 24 where members selected by the Event Management will decide on 15 finalists to make it to the Mentoring Stage. Each selected Participant Team will have 30 minutes to go through a demo of their solution and business case. The Judges will consist of one or more panels of between one (1) and three (3) members selected by the Event Management, including those from AAIWay, or or other industry practitioners. These members will be technology and business mentors at AAIWay and/or subject matter experts in the challenge domain. 
  3.  Judges and Mentors: Persons not employed by AAIWay may be invited to serve as either a Judge or Mentor. No professional relationship or other relationship, except than for the purposes of this Event, is implied between AAIWay and these persons.
  4. The Judges will select two overall winning Teams for prizes. Judges will select 5 entries for free guidance should the teams wish to seek investors in the USA.
  5.  The selection of the winning Teams in the Event will be subject to the sole discretion and approval of the Judges and the Event Management. The highest score following the judging criteria set forth will determine the winning Teams. Winners will be declared at the end of the Event and through other official social channels. 
  6.  All reasonable and standard costs directly related to participation in the Competition, including costs for travel meals and accommodation for the Teams during the entire duration of the Competition shall be borne by the Participant. In no circumstances will the Event Management be responsible for Participants’ costs, (including but not limited to those associated with insurance, medical costs, tips, cost of travel; wardrobe, loss or theft of any belongings or similar). 
  7.  By accepting these Terms and Conditions and participating in the Event, each participant undertakes, for the entire duration of the Competition, to make use of the facilities in which the Competition is to be held and any materials and equipment provided by Event Management with the utmost care and diligence and to comply fully with the rules of conduct and safety established by Event Management. Event Participants will be held liable for any damage caused to people or property. 

By entering the competition, all participants agree to following AAIWay Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

  1.  The winning Teams will be awarded with predefined prizes consisting of gift cards, technology environment credits, and business and technology mentoring. Participants must be online during the Event at the time that prizes are awarded to claim prizes. Any Participants absent at that time forfeit their prizes. 
  2. For claiming the prizes, the winning Team Participants must submit their work product onto the Event Platform, as required by the Event Management (if these were not submitted earlier).
  3. In the event that a single prize is awarded to a Team collectively (typically in the case of a gift card), the Team members are expected to divide the value evenly among the Team members. Event Management is not responsible for any disagreements among Team members.
  4. If any Team Participant is disqualified by the Event Management for any reason, such as being found ineligible or failing to comply with these Terms and Conditions, then the Team will be disqualified, and the next eligible Team will receive the prizes, as the case may be, by following the aforementioned procedure.
  5. The Event Management may refuse to award prizes or reclaim / recover the prizes awarded to the winning Teams in the event any of the Team Participants are found to be involved in any form of fraud, misrepresentation, dishonesty or non-entitlement to participate in the Event under these Terms and Conditions.
  6. The Event Management has the right to substitute the prizes with other prizes of similar value, as determined by Event Management in its sole discretion.
  7. Prizes, such as gift cards, will be awarded to the winning team only if there are no legal restrictions in sending online gift cards (e.g. to the country where the participating team is based) .
